An Art Deco period silver and cut glass hip flask by the renowned silversmiths Mappin & Webb.

The hip flask has been designed with exquisite detail from the ingenious twist and release bayonet mechanism of the hinged silver top to the faceted cut glass shoulders and following down to the beautifully crafted silver base which can be removed to provide a receptacle for drinking it contents.

The design reflects the exuberance of the twenties while maintaining the quality that only a company like Mappin & Webb could execute. With its roots stretching back as far back as the late Eighteenth Century, Mappin & Webb received the Royal Warrant towards the end of Queen Victoria’s reign and have continued with that privilege to this day. In 2012 Mappin & Webb’s master craftsmen were appointed to the position of Crown Jewellers and as such are responsible for preparing the crown jewels for state occasions.

Fully hallmarked to London 1928, the makers marks are somewhat worn from almost one hundred years of care but nevertheless, the companies moniker remains present.
