Victorian Twelve Foot Taxidermy African Rock Python Lamp Stand
For sale, a late nineteenth century twelve foot taxidermy African Rock Python lamp stand.
This very rare and unusual taxidermy specimen has been articulated with a curled tail in order to form a balanced base with the rest of the snake forming what is likely to be a somewhat unnatural pose but useful for the ‘normal’ purposes of forming a lamp stand. (The Victorians were a funny lot….)
Whatever your thoughts on its natural tendencies, this rare and unusual taxidermy subject stands at 155cms high and looks great with an early tungsten light bulb.
Please be aware, due to the age and electrical regulations, this will be sold with disconnected bulb holder although I have had it functioning. It will be up to the new owner to fulfil any PAT testing requirements if it is intended to be used in earnest!
A sensational show piece and I dare you to find another!
