Georgian Mahogany & Leather Library Chair with Reeded Legs & Brass Cope & Collinson Castors - Smee & Son
A late Georgian / William IV mahogany Library Chair newly upholstered in buttoned green leather complete with Cope & Collinson castors.
The chair has the typical under-scroll arms reminiscent of the Regency period but were of a type that the famed W. Smee & Son were manufacturing until the 1850’s. An almost identical chair can be seen in their catalogue where it described, "Mahogany Lounge Chair with fix'd back stuff'd in leather" (see picture for an illustration).
This particular model has reeded legs suggesting a slightly earlier date. A fantastic period chair.
