Late Eighteenth Century Mahogany & Satinwood Inlaid Sidetable over Three Drawers
For sale, a late Eighteenth Century Mahogany and Satinwood inlayed Sidetable over Three Drawers.
The table is surrounded by a wooden inlayed gallery top with inset marble over three drawers with brass handles and superb central shell motif. Each drawer has additional fan motif inlay to each corner. The legs terminate with Hepplewhite period spade feet connected by an open shelf containing further inlay.
A similar but slightly later table (or cupboard as it is described) dating to circa 1800 can be seen in Geoffrey Wills 1971 publication, “English Furniture 1760-1900” pp. 146
This is a fantastic period piece which couldn’t be more evocative of the final period of neo-classicism circa 1780-1800.
