Regency Period Mahogany & Ebony Inlaid Cylinder Top Desk Attributed to Gillows of Lancaster
A Regency Period mahogany and ebony inlaid cylinder top or roll top desk in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster.
This superbly crafted desk turned and reeded legs surmounted by an ebony fleur de lys patterned inalid cylinder top with brass knobs. The slide interior opens above a single drawer to reveal six satinwood drawers with ebony turned knobs and seven pigeon hole sections. The top is finished with a dentil decoration to the front edge.
Everything about this desk sings quality in terms of the applied veneers and the crisp turned and reeded decoration. A lovely early nineteenth century piece of furniture with enough room to be of practical use today.
