An early to mid-twentieth century circus or fairground painted plaster lion’s head.
Beautifully painted, this slightly stylised lion is likely to have sat at the front of a fairground stand as means of advertising the game or ride in question.
One of eyes still contains a small bulb where it would have been wired and backlit for effect. A torch has created the same effect as you can see from the photographs.
The model measures roughly 45 cms square
